Dr Andrew Gikas BDSc (Melb), FPFA, FADI, FICD.

Andrew Gikas is a dentist in general practice in the suburb of Oakleigh in Melbourne. He is a Past President of the Australian Dental Association Victorian Branch and is currently an ADAVB Councillor. He is also a Clinical Tutor Instructor at the University of Melbourne Dental Clinic.

He has been involved at various levels of the ASA, as a Board Member, Membership Chair, Chair of the Dental & Orofacial Special Interest Group, as well as previous convenor of the successful ASA Oral Sleep Medicine Courses. He is currently Chair of the ASA’s Dental Sleep Medicine Accreditation Working Party which was formed and tasked with developing a formal protocol of certification of dentists involved in the clinical field of Dental Sleep Medicine.

Andrew has a passion for dental sleep medicine having presented numerous times on several topics nationally and internationally. He is an active member of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, regularly travelling to the U.S for the AADSM meetings. He has been actively involved in treating patients with oral appliance therapy via referral from some of Melbourne’s Sleep Physicians since 1998.
